Extremist leader Abu killed in Pabna 'gunfight'

Pabna Correspondent: A suspected leader of outlawed ‘Purba Bangla Communist Party’ was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in Dhopaghata area under Sadar upazila of the district early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Abul Hossain alias Abu Nakshal, 55, son of late Golam Uddin, hailed from Purba Raghabpur village of Sadar upazila.
Pabna Additional police super Gautam Kumar Biswas said that police arrested Abul Hossain from Raghabpur on September 30. He provided lot of information about huge amount of fire arms and ammunition. Following his information, police conducted a drive in the area around 3:00am to recover fire arms.
Meanwhile, the cohorts of Abul opened fire aiming police. In reply, police also opened fire which triggered the gun fight, leaving Abul bullet injured. Abul Hossain was wanted in nine cases including murder case.
Later, he was taken to Pabna General Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead around 4:00am. A revolver and 14 rounds of bullets were recovered from the spot.
