Extremist leader among 2 killed in Pabna

Pabna Correspondent: A regional extremist leader and a grocer were shot and hacked to death by rivals at broad day light at Tebaria Bazar of the district’s Sathia upazila around 6:00pm on Sunday.

The deceased were known as extremist leader Abdul Gafur, 55, regional leader of Purba Bangla Communist Party (ML Red Flag) and son of Dabir Uddin of Tebaria village, and shopkeeper Edris Ali, 42, son of Moyez Ali of Goyeshbari village.

Goutam Kumar Biswas, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Pabna, confirmed the news.

He said, “A 10 to 12 members group of armed terrorists swooped on Gafur while he was taking tea at a stall of Tebaria Bazar in the evening. They firstly blasted bombs to create panic among people. Later, they shot and hacked him to death. Miscreants also shot Edris Ali to death as he went forward to save Gafur.”
