Staff Correspondent: Election Commission (EC) Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed has claimed that the voting in the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) election ended peacefully amid stringent security measures and festivity.
The EC secretary made the claim while speaking to the reporters at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon area of Dhaka on Tuesday evening.
“We are satisfied with the KCC voting ...it is a local government election and it has ended peacefully. We have observed the situation during the voting in various ways. Fantastic and fair election has been held in the KCC amid festive mood" Helal Uddin Ahmed told the reporters.
He said the voting of three polling stations out of 289 was postponed due to irregularities while the voting of the remaining centres was held peacefully.
Out of 286 centres, two polling stations were gone through the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) system and the result of these centres was published.
