Foizur remanded for 10 days

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: A court in Sylhet on Thursday granted a 10-day remand for Foizur Hasan, who allegedly carried out a knife attack on Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).
Haridas Kumar, judge of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court-3, passed the order after Foizur was produced before the court, seeking a 10-day remand to interrogate him.
Pranab Kumar Deb, Additional Deputy Commissioner (prosecution) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed this to risingbd.com.
The SUST authorities lodged a case in connection with the attack bringing charges of attempted murder against Foizul and few other unidentified people.
Today police produced him before a court in Sylhet and secured an order to grill him in custody for 10 days.
Zafar Iqbal, a faculty member of Computer Science and Engineering department at SUST, came under the knife attack when he was attending a programme on the SUST campus.
Later, at the instruction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the eminent professor was flown to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka by an air-ambulance after the attack. He is now well and shifted to cabin from the intensive care unit (ICU) at the hospital.
