Female SI found dead in Savar

Staff Correspondent, Savar: Police recovered the hanging body of a female sub-inspector (SI) of Savar Model Police Station from her staff quarters on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Tahmina Begum, 30.

Confirming the matter to risingbd.com, Mohsinul Kadir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Savar Model Police Station, said Tahmina’s husband Mobarak Hossain claimed that he spotted the female police officer hanging from a ceiling fan at her room around 8:00pm when he peeped through a window getting no response from her after repeated calls. Later, he informed police about the incident.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body breaking open the door, the OC said.

The reason behind the death could not be known yet, he added.

Tahmina along with her husband and two children -- Tanveer Hossain, 5, and two-month-old Mahera – used to live on the ground floor of the quarters.

Tahmina, who was on maternity leave, was posted at the Savar Model Police Station six years ago.
