Ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari route halted

Staff Correspondent: Ferry service on Shimulia-Kathalbari river route has been suspended due to lack of navigability.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) stopped the service on the river route at 8:00am on Saturday and directed the vehicles to use Daulatdia-Paturia route.

BIWTA public relation officer Mobarak Hossain Majumdar said the vehicles are requested to move in alternate directions as dredging on that route is underway due to unusual sediments in the river.

Homebound passengers on the occasion of Eid may also face difficulties due to the halt in the route.
