Finance Minister mourns death of Walton chairman

Staff Correspondent: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has expressed deep shock at the death of SM Nazrul Islam, the founding chairman of the country's leading electrical, electronics and home appliances manufacturing and marketing company Walton group.

In a condolence message on Wednesday, the finance minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

He also conveyed profound sympathy to all of the Walton family.

Muhith in the condolence message recalled the contribution of SM Nazrul Islam to the field of electrical, electronics and home appliances manufacturing and marketing in the country.

“Walton brings glory for the country. SM Nazrul Islam has left successors suitable for this work,” he added.

SM Nazrul Islam breathed his last while undergoing treatment due to old age complications at the capital's Apollo Hospital around 9:40pm on Sunday. He was 93.
