Fire at Minister factory: Loss Tk 100cr

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: The devastating fire, broke out at a Minister-brand refrigerator factory of MyOne Group in Dheerashrom area of Gazipur city, has damaged properties worth at least Tk 100 crore.

Chairman of the group MA Razzak Khan Raj disclosed this at a press conference held on the factory premises around 11.00am on Saturday.

“The factory had enough firefighting equipment, and the building code was correct. The fire originated from an electric short circuit”, he claimed.

“The devastating fire originated around 5.30am, and at first we tried to douse the fire. After failure, we informed the fire service units”, the chairman said.

The fire was brought under control after five and half hours of frantic efforts.

A total of 16 units from Joydebpur, Sreepur, Kaliakoir, Tongi and Uttara fire service stations went to the spot and doused the fire.
