Flaws must be corrected if any found in Digital Security Act

Staff Correspondent: Law Minister Anisul Huq said the government has no objection to bringing amendment to the Digital Security Act if there is found any flaw in it.
The Minister made the disclosure to the reporters at a seminar arranged by Bangladesh Human Rights Commission at the capital’s Sonargaon Hotel on Thursday.
He said, “The Digital Security Act is now at standing committee of the parliament. The committee will discuss the amendments of the law.”
“As a democratic government, we believe the law is for people. So, we have no hesitation to discuss over the law. If it is found that there are some flaws in it, we have no objection to correcting it,” he added.
Anisul Huq said, “A standing committee meeting will be held on May 22. Representatives from three organisations will be present in the meeting. The law will be discussed during the meeting.”
Over the freedom of press, the Minister said, “I think the media is free and independent. If you compare our media to those of other democratic countries of the world, you must realize our media is enjoying much freedom.”
