Food service on Banalata Express being stopped

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: Food service on Banalata Express, which has recently been opened on Rajshahi-Dhaka-Rajshahi route, is being mandatorily stopped.

The decision will be effective from May 18. Fare of the train will reduce once the decision becomes effective.

A reliable source of west region railway confirmed the news on Friday.

According to the source, once the decision comes under effective, the faire will be Tk 375 for General Shovon Chair and Tk 725 for Snigdha (AC).

Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujon came up with the decision to cancel food service from May 18 responding to the urge from Rajshahi people, the source said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina opened the country’s modern train service ‘Banalata Express’ on April 25.

Tk 150 extra is being currently charged from passengers of the train for fast food which sparks strong criticism.
