Form committee to provide anti-rape device: HC

The High Court (HC) has directed the authorities concerned to form a specialized committee to provide anti-rape device to women with an aim to prevent sexual abuse.

The committee has been asked to submit a progress report to the court within next 60 days.

A rule has also been issued as to why the authorities should not be directed to adopt adequate security measures in order to protect women from being the victim of sexual abuse.

The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman came up with the order and the rule on Sunday following a writ petition filed by Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) and Children's Charity Bangladesh Foundation (CCB Foundation).

The writ petition was filed with the High Court seeking a directive on providing anti-rape device to women in order to prevent sexual abuse.
