Former power grid deputy manager jailed for 3yrs

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court sentenced Arshad Hossain, a former deputy manager (DM) of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd (PGCB), to three years in a corruption case filed for not submitting his asset statements.
Judge Md Ataur Rahman of Dhaka -1 Special Judge Court passed the order on Monday.
The court also slapped a fine of Tk 50 lakh on Arshad Hossain.
In default, the court ordered him to sell all of his assets in auction to pay off the money to state by June 11.
Mahmud Hossen Jahangir, Special Public Prosecutor of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) moved for the state while Advocate Abul Kalam Azad moved for the convict.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) gave a notice to Arshad Hossain asking him to submit his wealth statements on May 2, 2010.
Later, on June 29, 2010, ACC deputy director Sheikh Md Fanafilla lodged a case with Dhanmondi Police station.
