Four injury marks on Zafar Iqbal's head

Staff Correspondent: At least six injury marks were found on the body of Zafar Iqbal who was stabbed by a youth on Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) campus in Sylhet on Saturday.
Of the injury marks, four were noticed on head alone.
Major General Munshi Md Mojibur Rahman, chief cardiac surgeon and consultant surgeon general of Bangladesh Armed Forces, came up with the disclosure at a press briefing at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital on Sunday.
He said, "Iqbal sustained a total of six injury marks on his body. Of which, four are on head, one is on the back while another is on the left arm."
He, however, is now out of danger, Mojibur added.
He said, "He is currently conscious. He is doing well. His mental condition is also good. He is talking normally. To avoid any kind of infection, no visitors will be allowed to visit him at the hospital."
A five-member medical board was formed for treatment of the eminent writer, he revealed.
In reply to a query whether there is any plan to take him abroad?
He said, "We do not think this now. He may fly abroad, if he wishes later for observation."
Renowned writer Prof Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal was flown to Dhaka by an air ambulance from Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital on Saturday midnight and admitted to CMH.
A miscreant carried out the attack on the renowned writer during a programme of the department of electrical and electronic engineering (EEE) of the university around 5:30pm on Saturday.
Witnesses and students said, "Zafar Iqbal attended a programme of EEE department as a guest. An unknown miscreant attacked on him with a knife and stabbed in a crowd, leaving him injured."
"The youth aged 24-25 suddenly made the attack emerging from behind the Muktamanch," they added.
He was rushed to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital immediately after the incident. From there, he was taken to Dhaka CMH on directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
