Freedom fighters' quota: Minister hints of reducing percentage

Kushtia Correspondent: Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq has indicated of reducing the existing 30 percent freedom fighters’ quota.
He said, “Getting government job for the children of freedom fighters was assured through the quota system. But, the existing the percentage of the freedom fighters’ quota may be reduced due to the quota reform movement.”
He came up with the observations while addressing a rally organised on the occasion of inaugurating a road being built in the name of Freedom Fighter Rashidul Alam (Anis) by district administration in Kushtia on Saturday noon.
He, however, said the government is thinking about the matter so that the children of freedom fighters’ get in honourable posts in the country.
“The incumbent government believes in the spirit of liberation war. Freedom fighters made the country independent keeping their lives in risk. The government wants to evaluate them and their children as well,” he added.
Rashidul Alam (Anis) is a member of Awami League (AL) advisory panel and elder brother of the party’s joint general secretary, also lawmaker of Kushtia-3 constituency Mahbub-Ul-Alam Hanif.
