EC to postpone Gaibandha-3 polls

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) has said the election in Gaibandha-3 constituency is being postponed following the demise of a Jatiya Oikyafront candidate.

Election Commission secretary Helaluddin Ahmed made the disclosure on Thursday.

Helaluddin Ahmed said election in the seat will be stopped following the death of Jatiya Oikyafront candidate Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi. Re-schedule will be announced after the 11th parliament election.

Earlier, Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi breathed his last at 2.20am on Thursday at United Hospital in the city.  He was suffering from various diseases including bronchitis and high blood pressure.
