Golam Mostafa gets AL ticket for Gaibandha-1 by-polls

Staff Correspondent: Awami League nominated its Sundarganj upazila unit general secretary Golam Mostofa Ahmad as the party candidate for Gaibanha-1 by-election to be held on 22 March.

The decision was taken at the AL Parliamentary Board (ALPB) meeting held at PM's official residence Ganobhaban with ALPB President Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

A press release signed by Awami League Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap confirmed the matter on Tuesday.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Awami League lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton on December 31. Liton was shot dead by unidentified miscreants at his village home in Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha in the evening on December 31.
