Govt mulls separate cell to control mosquito-borne diseases

The government is mulling to constitute a separate cell to control mosquito and resolve health complications related to mosquito.

He said, “An additional secretary has already been assigned to make draft for works of the cell.”

The Minister said this while speaking at a seminar at the auditorium of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies in the capital’s Eskaton on Saturday.

Centre for Governance Studies arranged the seminar titled “Vector Problems in Bangladesh: An Integrated Management Approach”.

“The mosquito-borne diseases breaks out not only in urbans, but also in rural areas. As the LGRD Ministry works in levels of city, urban, district, upazila, municipality, union and village, the ministry takes the initiative to form a cell in this regard.”

He further said, “There is no alternative to control mosquito-borne diseases, but awareness. It should be included lessons in text books to increase awareness among people.”
