‘Govt plans for housing for third gender people’

Parliament Correspondent: The government has taken a plan to build housing for third gender people in 10 districts, said Social Welfare Minister Muruzzaman Ahmed.

The Minister said this in the parliament session while replying to a stared question of Barisal-3 lawmaker Golam Kibria Tipu on Sunday.

Nuruzzaman said, “The government has taken programmes in ensuring rights of third gender people, developing their life standard, making them self-reliant and responsible citizens of the country. As part of the programmes, nearly Tk 11.5 crore has been allotted in the current fiscal year.”

“The programmes started in seven districts in 2012-2013 fiscal year. Then, Tk 72.17 lakh was allotment for them. In the fiscal year of 2018-2019, it was extended to Tk 11.40 lakh,” he added.
