Govt to provide houses to15,000 freedom fighters

Secretariat Correspondent: The government has taken a project for rehabilitation of the country’s freedom fighters. Following the success in the first phase, the government has planned to construct 15,000 houses for freedom fighters in the second phase.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq said this while exchanging views with DCs at the conference room of the cabinet division in the Secretariat on Monday.

He said, “In first phase, 2,962 houses were constructed and allotted to insolvent freedom fighters.”

“Designs of the habitants of second phase have already been completed. This is currently at approval level. The houses will be handed over to the freedom fighters as gifts on the 100th birthday celebration of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” he added.
