Govt won’t make any law to curb freedom of press

Staff Correspondent: Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said the incumbent Sheikh Hasina led government will not make any law which will curb freedom of the press.
The Minister said this while speaking at a discussion a progamme marking the World Press Freedom Day at the National Press Club on Thursday.
Inu said, “The government and the journalists are not the opponents each other. Rather, both of the sides are playing roles to flourish freedom of the press, maintaining complementary relationship between them. Nevertheless, the government is taking actions against the quarter who were involvement in attack on you.
“A media person has right to publish report against all criminals whether he/she becomes UP chairman, upazila chairman or minister. The government can take steps immediately against the perpetrators as media publish reports against them,” the Minister added.
