Staff Correspondent: Father and mother of the two students-- Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib who were killed in a tragic road crash on Airport road in the capital and triggered mass protests, urged the protesting students to return home.

Diya’s father Jahangir Fakir and Karim’s mother made the call to the students on media after they received a saving certificate of Tk 20 lakh each from Prime Minister on Thursday.

Jahangir Fakir told reporters that he requested to all guardians to take their children back home.

He said, “I hope of getting an exemplary punishment as PM assured us.”

“Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal visited us at our home on Wednesday and expressed deep shock over the incident. He also gave assurance of punishment of the people responsible in the incident,” he added.

Meanwhile, Karim’s mother Mohima Begum said, “All took streets for my son and waged demonstration. It is enough. Now, you every student return your home respectively. I request you all, please go home.”

On Sunday, Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, students of the college section of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School and College, were killed as a Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan bus (Dhaka Metro B 11-9297) ploughed through some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road in the capital.
