Maksudur Rahman: Two Garo tribal women-- Besset Chiran, 65, and her daughter Sujata Chiran, 40-- of the capital’s Gulshan were killed over previous enmity, police primarily guessed.

Police recovered bodies of the two women from their rented-flat of Kalachandpur area under Gulshan Police Station on Tuesday night.

The bodies were handed over to the family after completing autopsies on Wednesday.

Abu Bakar Siddique, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gulshan Police Station, confirmed the news to risingbd on Wednesday evening.

He said, “We had information that the deceased Sujata’s nephew (son of sister) Sanjit along with three others came to the house around 4:00pm on the day. They left the flat by 6:00pm. Close Circuit (CC) camera footages were collected. Drives to arrest the culprits are continuing.”

In reply to a query, he said, “It is our primary guess that the murder might have happened over previous enmity. Besides, the incident might be happened over personal or illegal affairs and land dispute.”

Detectives are also working to arrest the killers, he added.

According to the sources to investigation concerned, Sujata’s son-in-law, daughter Madhabi’s husband found the door of the flat locked with cleat from outside on Tuesday evening. He entered the flat and found Sujata’s throat-slit body. Sujata’s three daughters-- Madhabi, Mayabi and Surovi-- all were out of home. It was found in CC camera footage that Sujata’s nephew along with three associates entered the flat. The news of murder was emerged after they left the flat.

Sujata’s husband Ashish Mankin said, “I found bodies and police after I reached home. I knew nothing about their enmity with someone. The bodies will be taken to Mymensingh village home.”

According to autopsy report, at least 14 injury marks were found on different parts of Sujata’s body including her neck.

However, another deceased Sujata’s mother’s body bore no injury marks. She was strangulated to death, according to Pradeep Biswas, physician of Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
