HC asks for steps against chaos in transport strike

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has asked the authorities concerned about the steps taken against the incidents including smearing burn-mobile on faces and bodies of drivers and students and seizing ambulance which killed a newborn during the recent transport strike.
The HC asked Inspector General of Police (IGP) to submit reply in this regard within 15 days.
The bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil on Wednesday came up with the order following a writ petition in this regard.
The court also issued a rule against the authorities asking as why instructions should not be passed over taking place such horrible incidents again.
Secretary of Home Ministry, Secretary of Road Transport and Bridges Ministry, IGP, Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Traffic Police, deputy commissioners and superintendent of police in Moulovibazar and Sunamganj were asked to forward replies.
Barrister Syed Saiyedul Haque Sumon moved for the writ petition while deputy attorney general Mokhlesur Rahman represented the state in the court.
