HC bans establishment in Dhaka's water bodies

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has imposed a ban to build any establishment at water bodies grabbed by influential persons and organisations in Dhaka Metropolitan.

The court also issued a rule asking the authority concern as to why measures should not be taken to recover the water bodies.

The HC bench of Justice Kazi Rezaul Haque and Justice Mohammad Ullah came up with the suo moto order on Thursday noon, after taking in cognisance of a newspaper report published on October 24.

The court also asked the Dhaka District Administration to report within two weeks over what measures are taken to rescue the water bodies.
