HC issues stay order on IU admission test

Staff Correspondent: Following question leak issue, a Division bench of High Court (HC) on Monday stayed for two months the initiative to hold fresh admission tests in Islamic University in Kushtia.

An HC bench comprising Justice Zubayer Chowdhury and Justice Iqbal Kabir passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by the ‘F’ unit’s 88 students.

Attorney General SM Maniruzzaman represented the state while Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajol stood for the students.

On March 6, the university authorities cancelled the admission of 100 students of ‘F’ unit under applied science and technology faculty from a syndicate meeting. The authorities also suspended a teacher and two of its officers for their involvement in the leakage of the question paper. It also expelled Monojit Kumar Mandol on the same charge and cancelled his graduation certificate, after getting investigation reports from probe body.

Meanwhile, a decision was taken from the university’s central admission test committee to take a fresh readmission of the unit on March 7.
