HC rule over close of unauthorised educational institutions

Staff Correspondent:  The High Court has issued a rule asking the government to explain why it should not direct to stop operations of the unauthorised educational institutions including primary and high schools and madrassas across the country.

The HC bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Ashraful Kamal came up with the rule on Monday.

The education secretary, director generals of Directorates of Secondary and Primary and Mass Education and other concerned have been asked to respond the rule within four weeks.

Nasrin Sultana, general secretary of Mymensingh district unit of Bangladesh Manobadhikar Bastobayon Sangstha, and Ahona Nasrin, a writer, filed the writ petition challenging the legality of running the educational institutions without approval of the government on January 28.
