HC stays contractual appointment of law secretary

Staff Correspondent: The High Court has stayed for three months the contractual appointment of ASSM Zahirul Haque as secretary to law and justice division of law, justice and parliamentary affairs ministry.

The bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan passed the order on Tuesday, after hearing of a writ petition filed challenging the legality of the appointment.

He was reappointed as secretary to the law and justice division on August 6 for two years.

A writ was filed challenging the legality of the contractual appointment of judicial officer Zahirul as law secretary without consulting with the Supreme Court.
