‘Hasina to take charge as PM again following people’s mandate’

Staff Correspondent: Publicity and Publication Secretary of Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday expressed hope that Sheikh Hasina will take charge of Prime Minister’s office again following people’s mandate.

Hasan Mahmud expressed the hope while addressing a discussion at VIP lounge of National Press Club organized by Bangabandhu Gobeshona Parishad on the occasion of Jail Killing Day.

He said that the people will choose her again following the development of Awami League government in last ten years.

Dr Hasan Mahmud said, “The family members of Sheikh Hasina were killed on August 15, 1975. Grenade attack took place to kill her on August 21, 2004. She was not permitted to enter her own house when she returned home after losing her family members. She was not allowed to enter into Khaleda Zia’s house when Khaleda Zia's son died. For the sake of nation’s interest, she (Sheikh Hasina) held a dialogue when Oikyafront expressed interest to hold dialogue. The Oikyafront leaders spoke openly. It’s a milestone in the political history of the country.”

The former minister said, “Dr. Kamal Hossain yesterday talked about cordial environment. That’s true. That’s the reality. So, a harmonious environment has been created. We hope such environment will not be spoiled. There is no scope to go outside of the constitution. During the dialogue, the Prime Minister has said what to do in order to conduct a free, fair, neutral election according to the constitution.”

Former State Minister for Home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, Awami League leader Balaram Poddar, Dhaka Metropolitan (North) Awami League join general secretary Kader Khan and others attended the function.
