Heavy rain disrupts city life

Desk Report: A heavy rainfall submerged parts of Dhaka in knee-deep water today, causing immense sufferings to the city dwellers.

Commuters, especially office-goers and students, face difficulties in reaching their destinations as rain slowed down traffic on many roads in the morning. Some were seen wading through knee-deep water while some others took rickshaws to reach their destinations and many were seen waiting for hours for vehicles.



Low-income people, especially the day labourers, suffered much as rain disrupted their normal pace of life.

The Met Office said the rain may continue till Saturday and the weather is likely to improve on Sunday.

Moderate to heavy rainfall, triggered by land depression in the Bay, has been continuing throughout the country.



The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three due to the depression formed in the Bay.
