Hedayetullah Al Mamun made Janata Bank chairman

Economic Correspondent: The government has appointed former senior secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamun as chairman of the state-owned Janata Bank along with the head of board of directors.

Department of Bank and Financial Institution Division of the Finance Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Sunday.

A 1982 batch officer of the Bangladesh Civil Service, Mamum retired on Oct 4, 2017 as the finance secretary.

His brother Obayed Ullah Al Masud is serving as Managing Director and CEO of the state-owned Sonali Bank.

Mamun was promoted to senior secretary in 2014 when he was a member of the Planning Commission.

He was the commerce secretary from 2014 to Feb 28, 2017.

Mamun had also served the ministries of civil aviation and tourism, information and cultural affairs as secretary.
