Staff Correspondent: BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed alleged that he is now passing every night sleeping on the floor of a flat since the day he was evicted from his Gulshan residence.

The BNP leader came up with the comment while addressing journalists during a briefing held at the Supreme Court Bar Association auditorium on Thursday.

Barrister Moudud said, “Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) has broken the bed I used during the eviction from my Gulshan residence. Now the bed is being repaired. I can sleep on the bed after it is once repaired. For the time being, I am passing every night sleeping on the floor of a flat.”

The government has occupied my Gulshan residence like char grabbing not following any law which is complete violation of human rights, he alleged.

Some rare things from his personal collection and some memorabilia of his two sons who passed away were also damaged or lost during the eviction, he said.

Moudud also claimed that the Supreme Court verdict that ordered the authorities to mutate the Gulshan land and residence did not include his eviction from the house.

Supreme Court Bar Association President Zainul Abedin termed Moudud’s eviction a violation of human rights and said the government has powerfully evicted Moudud from the house which is not a government property.

On June 7, Moudud was evicted from the residence at Gulshan Avenue in the capital where he had been staying for more than three decades.

Rajuk conducted the eviction drive at the house and took its control after the former law minister lost a long legal battle over the ownership of the residence worth over Tk 300 crore.

The eviction drive came three days after the Supreme Court verdict that ordered the authorities to mutate the Gulshan land and residence.
