Illegal fishing nets worth Tk34cr seized

Staff Correspondent: Coast Guard, Dhaka district administration and fisheries department jointly in a drive seized illegal fishing nets popularly known as ‘Current Jaal (thickly knitted net)’ worth Tk 34 crore in the capital on Wednesday.

Dhaka District Administration Executive Magistrate Touhid Elahi made the disclosure to media.

He said that the law enforcers conducted a day-long drive in Al-Sahani market of Mugduli area in Dhaka and seized 1.68 lakh meters banned fishing nets.

Coast Guard commander Shakhawat Kabir and Sub Lieutenant Mamtajul Asif, Dhaka district fisheries officer Syed Alamgir and others joined the drive.
