Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has granted bail to Imran H Sarker and cultural activist Sanatan Ullash on their surrender before it in a defamation case filed for making “derogatory remarks” about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sheikh Chhamidul Islam passed the order on Thursday after they surrendered before the court and sought bail in the case.
The court also fixed October 26 to submit a report on execution of their arrest warrant.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the same court issued an arrest warrant against Gonojagoron Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker and cultural activist Sanatan Ullash.
On May 31, Bangladesh Chhatra League Education and Study Circle Secretary Golam Rabbani filed the case against Imran H Sarker and cultural activist Sanatan Ullash.
According to the case statement, Imran and Sanatan chanted defamatory slogans against the prime minister during a processtion brought out on May 28 protesting the removal of Greek goddess Themis from the Supreme Court premises.
