‘Increasing revenue collection a must to accelerate development'

Economic Reformer: National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan has said there is no alternative to increasing revenue collection to accelerate the government's development activities.
He made the remark while inaugurating International Customs Day programme in the city on Saturday morning.
The International Customs Day is being observed in the country, along with 182 other member -countries of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), today (Saturday).
The theme of this year's day is: 'SMART borders for seamless trade, travel and transport'.
The WCO is dedicating 2019 to the swift and smooth cross-border movement of goods, people and means of transport. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has taken elaborate programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner.
A colourful rally was brought out in the morning.
Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion wishing the success of all programmes marking the day.
