Indian citizen held with 32 gold bars in Jessore

Staff Correspondent, Jessore: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained an Indian national along with 32 gold bars weighing 3.400 kg from bordering Shikarpur area in Sharsha upazila of Jessore on Tuesday.

The detainee was identified as Mithu Dafadar, 30, son of Hazrat Dafadar of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal.

Acting on a tiff-off, a team of BGB-49 Battalion conducted a drive at Shikarpur area around 10:00am and detained the Indian national along with the gold worth Tk 1.46 crore, said Habildar Atikur Rahman of Shikarpur BGB Camp.

Confirming the matter, BGB-49 Battalion Subedar Shafi Islam said a process to file a case in this connection was underway.
