Indian national held with 2 kg gold in Jessore

Staff Correspondent, Jessore: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained an Indian national along with four gold bars weighing 2.158 kg from a bus at Benapole in Sharsha upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The detainee is Md Ismail Hossain, 30, son of Mohammad Sheikh hailing from Chennai of India.
On secret information, a BGB team, led by Amrakhali check-post commander Nayeb Subeder M Mizanur Rahman Mollik, raided the Benapole-bound Greenline bus coming from Dhaka at Amrakhali in the afternoon, said commanding officer of BGB-49 battalion Lt Col Ariful Haque.
The paramilitary force members recovered the gold bullion searching the body of Ismail and detained him, he said.
Later, Ismail was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station and a case was filed in this regard, he said.
The price of the seized gold is Tk 94 lakh, he added.
