JCD man killed in Sylhet clash

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: An activist of Jatiyabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was killed and two others were injured in an attack by rival group in Sylhet.

The deceased was identified as Faizur Rahman Raju, 26 former joint secretary of Sylhet city Chhatra Dal. He was son of Fazar Ali, hailed from Shahpur village of Fatehpur union under Rajnagar upazila in Moulvibazar.

Sources said that two groups of Chhatra Dal leaders and activists clashed soon after they had gone to congratulate newly elected city mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury at about 9:30pm, leaving Raju and two others injured. Later, the injured were sent to Osmani Medical College Hospital where he died under treatment.



Mahbubul Haque Chowdhury, Chhatra Dal former central vice president said the incident took place following internal conflict.
