JU quota reformists protest threats

JU Correspondent: Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parisad of the Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit staged demonstration on Wednesday noon on the campus protesting the “Chhatra League’s threats” to two of their leaders.

Over one hundred students of Jahangirnagar University brought out a procession from central library around 12:00pm that ended at Central Shahed Minar premises. Later, a rally was also held at the same place.

Shakil-Uzzaman, convener of the university unit said, “Some unruly leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League are trying to create unrest. For their heinous activities, the ruling party’s student body (BCL) faces controversy. If they harass any quota reformist, we, along with country’s student society will protest them.”

Khan Muntasir Arman of Law and Justice Department, also spokesman of the university unit, said, “Nobody can refrain the students from their legal movement. We are not weak. In 1972, 69, 52, students showed their power. So, if any leaders or quota activists will fall in danger, the Prime Minister will have to take the responsibility.”
