Jabal-e-Noor bus owner held

Staff Correspondent: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Md Shahadat Hossain, owner of the ‘Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan’ bus (Dhaka Metro B 119297) that ploughed through a crowd killing two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School and College at Kurmitola on Ariport Road in the city on July 29.

RAB-1 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Sarwar Bin Kashem in a text message confirmed the matter to risingbd.com on Wednesday evening.

“We will provide details regarding the matter later. We are collecting information from him,” he said.

Earlier on Sunday (July 29), two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School and College -- Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib -- were killed as a Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan bus ploughed through some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital at Airport Road.

A case was filed with Cantonment Police Station on Sunday night over the incident.

Following this, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two drivers and two helpers of three buses from different parts of the capital on Monday.

Angered by the incident, several thousand school and college students took to the streets demanding safe road and justice for their two fellows killed in Sunday's road crash.
