Jabal-e-Noor bus owner remanded for 7 days

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has placed Md Shahadat Hossain, the owner of the bus Dhaka Metro B 11-9297 of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan that ran over two students and triggered mass protests, on a seven-day remand.

Metropolitan Magistrate Nurunnahar Yeasmin passed the order on Thursday.

Earlier, Kazi Shariful Islam, Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Police of Cantonment Zonal Team, also Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced him before the court and sought for a 10-day remand.

On Wednesday, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Shahadat.

Mentionable, driver of the bus Masum Billa, has also been in a seven-day remand. Besides, other four people arrestees in the case -- Enayet Hossain, Sohag Ali, Ripon Hossain and Jobair-- are currently behind the bars. Remand plea hearing for them was fixed on August 6.

On Sunday, Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, students of the college section of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School and College, were killed as the bus ploughed through some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road.
