Jatiya Oikyafront to hold rallies in 3 cities

Senior Correspondent: After Sylhet, Jatiya Oikyafront has announced to hold rallies in Chattogram and Rajshahi.

The new political alliance fixed October 27 and October 30 to hold rallies at Chattogram and Rajshahi respectively.

BNP Standing Committee Member Khandoker Mosharraf Hossain said this in a briefing after a meeting of Jatiya Oikyafront on Wednesday night.

He said, “We will visit shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (R)  and Hazrat Shah Poran (R) and offer munajat there. Then, we will hold a rally there. Local leaders are talking to local administration over the rally.”

“A decision has also been taken to hold rallies in Chattogram on October 27 and in Rajshahi on October 30,” he added.

Khandoker Mosharraf said, “Jatiya Oikyafront leaders will brief diplomats at Lakeshore Hotel of Gulshan on 3:00pm on Thursday. Front leaders would also exchange views with civil society later. But the date for the exchange view meeting has not yet been fixed.”

“Decision of forming a liaison committee has been taken in the meeting. Members’ names will be disclosed soon,” he added.

In reply to a query, he said, “Number of members has not yet been finalised. We hope, more parties will join the Jatiya Oikyafront. For this, we did not fixed number of members of the committee.”

BNP Standing Committee Member Khandoker Mosharraf, Moudud Ahmed, JSD vice-president Tania Rob, general secretary Abdul Malek Ratan, central leader Shahiduddin Mahmud Swapon, Nagorik Oikya leaders Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Jahedur Rahman, Gono Forum’s executive president Subrata Chowdhury, generat secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu were present in the meeting.

Pro-BNP professional leader and Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, former caretaker government adviser Barrister Moniul Hossain and former Ducsu VP Sultan Md Monsur also attended the meeting.

Earlier after a meeting on Tuesday, Jatiya Oikyafront announced to hold a rally in Sylhet on October 23.

Mentionable, Jatiya Oikyfront led by Gono Forum president Dr Kamal Hossain emerged with seven-point demand and 11 goals in a briefing at Jatiya Press Club on October 13.

The new political alliance is comprised of BNP, JSD, Nagorik Oikya and Gono Forum.
