Khaleda cannot file appeal Thursday

Staff Correspondent: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s lawyers are not getting today (Wednesday afternoon) the certified copy of the verdict that sentenced the BNP chief to five-year rigorous imprisonment in a graft case.

As a result, it is not being possible to file an appeal for Khaleda Zia on Thursday.

A source at the court confirmed the matter.

According to the court source, it was not possible to prepare the certified copy of the verdict on Wednesday. So the court is not giving the certified copy of the verdict today.

About getting the verdict copy, Sanaullah Mia, lawyer for Khaleda, said, “It was supposed to get the certified copy of the verdict by 4:00pm today. But I came to know some time ago that the court is not giving the copy today.”

Earlier on February 8, a special court convicted Khaleda Zia and sentenced her to five-year rigorous imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

She was then sent to the old central jail at Nazimuddin Road in the city.
