Khaleda for removing 'nasty politics' from country

Senior Correspondent: Terming the police raid at Gulshan office in the capital as a kind of “nasty politics”, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia said they want to remove such kind of culture from the politics of Bangladesh.

The BNP chairperson came up with the comment in a tweet on Sunday a day after police raided at her political office in Gulshan.

“Using police to raid opposition party office without any cause is exactly the kind of nasty politics we want to remove from the country,” she said in the tweet.

Police in a surprise move raided the office to seize "materials for carrying out anti-state and subversive activities". They found nothing after the long search.

The raid was conducted following a general diary (GD) filed by an unknown individual with Gulshan Police Station on Friday. Police did not disclose the identity of the person who filed the diary.

While talking about the raid, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the raid on BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s office was carried out following reports from detectives.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) demanded resignation of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal over the police raid on Khaleda Zia's office.
