Khaleda gets bail in two cases

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in two defamation cases filed against her for celebrating fake birthday and helping war criminals.
Judge KM Imrul Kayes of Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka passed the order on Tuesday.
Earlier on July 5, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Khurshid Alam rejected Khaleda’s bail in celebrating fake birthday case while Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ahsan Habib in the case of helping war criminals.
Later, bail plea was filed against the order with the sessions judge court.
On November 3, 2016, AB Siddique, president of Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad, a pro-Awami League organisation, filed a case against Khaleda Zia and her husband Ziaur Rahman over undermining the country's map and national flag as she appointed ministers from Jamaat-e-Islami and handed over the map and the national flag of independent Bangladesh to them even though they fought against the country during the Liberation War.
On August 30, 2016, Gazi Zahirul Islam, former joint general secretary of Dhaka Union of Journalists, filed another case against Khaleda for allegedly celebrating a fake birthday on August 15 every year.
