‘Khaleda likely to be shifted to Keraniganj prison’

Staff Correspondent, Savar: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia who is now in jail after being convicted in a graft case might be shifted to the new central jail in Keraniganj from the old central jail in Nazimuddin Road of Old Dhaka.

The minister made the disclosure while talking to the reporters while visiting a Buddhist Temple in Khejur Bagan area of Ashulia in Savar on Wednesday afternoon.

“The jail in which she is now is very old and risky and it will be developed into a museum. Therefore, she might be shifted to the new jail in Keraniganj anytime,” Asaduzzaman said.

Lauding the capabilities of the law enforcement agencies, he said militant or terrorist groups will no longer be able to raise their heads in the country.

State minister for disaster and relief Enamur Rahman Enam, among others, accompanied him.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia landed in the old central jail on February 8 in 2018 in a graft case.
