Khaleda to be taken to BSMMU: IG prisons

Staff Correspondent: Inspector General of Prisons (IG Prisons) Syed Iftekhar Uddin said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is likely to take Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for treatment on Tuesday.
In reply to a query, IG prisons came up with the disclosure while talking to reporters at the Directorate of Prisons on Monday.
He said, “Khaleda’s treatment is possible at BSMMU. But if the government takes any fresh decision in this case, she must be whisked off to any private hospital. Khaleda Zia will be taken to BSMMU around 9:00am on Tuesday if she agrees.”
“News of Khaleda’s suffering from mild stroke is a falsehood. Her physicians told that depending on her first statement. But we say she was not completely senseless. She was imbalanced,” IG prisons added.
He also said, “Khaleda Zia has been kept in healthy atmosphere. She has been provided internet connection, ventilation and mosquito net.”
On February 8, Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of the Special Court-5 in Dhaka convicted the former prime minister and sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the much-talked Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. Since, he has been in the Old Dhaka central jail at Nazim Uddin road.
