‘Khaleda won’t be able to take part in next polls’

Staff Correspondent: Former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will not be able to take part in next national polls as the High Court (HC) has increased her jail term to 10 years in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan made the opinion after the verdict announcement on Tuesday.

Khurshid Alam said, “We are satisfied at the verdict and it is clear that Khaleda Zia will not be able to take part in next national polls”.

Earlier, the High Court (HC) increased the jail term of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to 10 years in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

The bench comprising of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman pronounced the verdict on Tuesday morning on two appeal petitions filed over judgement in the graft case.
