Land minister’s son Tomal denied bail

Pabna Correspondent: A Pabna court has sent land minister’s son Sirhan Sharif Tomal to jail, rejecting his bail petition in a case filed for assaulting a group of print and TV journalists.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rezaul Karim passed the order Wednesday afternoon, when Tomal appeared before it with a bail peal.
On November 29, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif’s son Tomal and his entourage assaulted four journalists who were covering an attack on rival ruling party leader’s convoy in Pabna’s Ishwardi.
They journalists are Saikat Afroz Asad, correspondent of Somoy TV and daily Bangladesh Pratidin; Rizvi Raisul Islam Joy, correspondent of ATN News; Partho Hasan and Milon Hossain, correspondent and cameraman respectively of DBC News.
Earlier in May, Tomal along with 10 others were arrested on charges of attacking and vandalizing business establishments in Pabna’s Ishwardi.
