Language Movement veteran Laila Nur no more

Cumilla Correspondent: Language veteran Professor Laila Nur passed away in a hospital in Cumilla city on Friday.

She was 85.

Laila Nur Laila died around 9:15 am at the hospital. She was suffering from old age complications.

Earlier on May 28, she had been admitted to the CCU of CD Path Hospital.

Laila Nur was born on October 5, 1934 in Daudkandi Thana of Comilla. Her father was Abu Naser, and her mother was Shamsunnahar Mehedi. In 1955, she was arrested and jailed for 21 days for her participation in the Language Movement of 1952.
