Staff Correspondent: Police on Friday urged the students to go back home when students took to streets in Shahbagh intersection protesting against deaths of two fellows.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner (Ramna Zone) H M Azimul Haque said, "The government accepted all the demands of students. Already steps have been taken to implement their demands. They should go to school leaving streets now."

"It's a police duty to check vehicles or license. So, let police to do their duty," he said.

Following a Dhaka city road crash that killed 2 students on July 29, some students took position in Shahbagh area on Friday morning. They were seen controlling traffic situation there.

Meanwhile, police officers urged them to leave the roads. Later, the students left the area.

H M Azimul Haque also said, "A group tried to provoke the ongoing demonstration. We have increased our surveillance in this regard. However, there is no plan to attack students. As they are adolescent, we are trying to send them back after convincing them."

Rayan Kabir, a first year student of Kabi Nazrul College said, "We will go back when we will find that traffic police are doing their job properly. We want to show them that we students are able to do their job which they have failed."
